400 D C

Tucked away in the heart of Sheffield City Centre at 46 Castle Square, 400 D C is one of those places that instantly grabs your attention-not just with its bold name, but with the rich, intoxicating aromas that greet you before you even walk in. Whether you're strolling through the city looking for a hearty biryani or craving late-night comfort food, this spot delivers more than just flavor-it delivers a vibe.

What makes 400 D C stand out is its ability to blend the familiar with the unexpected. The menu reads like a love letter to South Asian cuisine, but there's a twist in every corner. One moment you're biting into a flaky, perfectly spiced Samosa Chat, the next you’re spoon-deep into a comforting bowl of Chicken Dum Biryani that’s equal parts fragrant and fiery. And if you're a fan of fusion indulgence, don't sleep on their Paneer Kadai-it's rich, tangy, and loaded with enough punch to stay with you long after the last bite.

Let’s talk comfort. Not just the food, but the space. The restaurant features wheelchair-accessible seating and entrance, making it welcoming to everyone. Prefer al fresco dining? They've got outdoor seating. Want to grab a quick takeaway or get it delivered to your door? Easy-400 D C covers all the bases. Whether you're planning a solo lunch or rounding up the crew for a dinner feast, the setting is casual, laid-back, and just the right amount of buzzed during peak hours.

You’ll also notice that 400 D C doesn’t shy away from variety. Meat-lovers rave about the Lamb Dum Biryani and Chicken Curry, while vegetarians are covered with vibrant options like Tandoori Phool V D or Paratha paired with cooling Mango Lassi. And for those chasing bold flavors, the Fish Tikka is a smoky, lemony knockout that pairs surprisingly well with a cold beer or even a chilled Prosecco. Yes, this place serves alcohol too-cocktails, wine, spirits, you name it.

If you're one of those diners who always needs “a little something on the side,” you’ll be pleased. Start with Poppadoms and Dips, follow it up with Garlic Bread dipped in a zesty Cheese Dip, and wrap things up with a traditional Sweet Lassi or even a slice of Flan if you’ve got room.

One thing 400 D C does particularly well is balance. You’ll find generous spice levels, but nothing that overwhelms. The ingredients feel fresh, the plating is clean, and the service is prompt without being rushed. That’s probably why it’s become such a solid go-to for both lunch breaks and evening meet-ups.

Beyond the flavors, there’s an emphasis on inclusivity. The menu includes halal, vegan, and vegetarian dishes, and there’s even a small plates offering if you’re just after a quick bite or sampling session. Plus, with options like organic dishes, coffee, and free water refills, it’s clear the team behind 400 D C has thought through the modern diner's checklist.

The location? Prime. Smack dab in central Sheffield, with the kind of accessibility that makes it ideal for both locals and tourists exploring the city. And for those planning larger gatherings or special occasions, 400 D C also offers catering services, meaning you can bring their signature flavors to your own event.

If you’re navigating the crowded dining scene in Sheffield and want something that fuses soul-warming classics with a modern twist, 400 D C deserves a spot on your list. Just be ready-this is one of those places where a “quick lunch” can easily turn into a full-on food adventure.

Absolutely the best Indian meal in sheffield that I have had in 20 years, the dishes were authentic and so full of flavour. If you want madras and vindaloo that everyone else is serving I am sure they would accommodate you but its not on the menu, only beatiful dishes perfectly cooked with flavours that will amaze you. This place is a hidden gem and i would definitely suggest you try it.

Popped in for a quick meal. Service was great and they recommended some dishes we had never tried before. One of my favourite Indian meals ever. Plenty of paneer and other vegetarian or vegan options. Who knew kale could be so tasty!

I recently visited this Indian restaurant and overall, the food was genuinely good – tasty, well-prepared, and reasonably priced. It's clear the kitchen knows what they’re doing when it comes to flavour. However, the overall experience was affected by a few key issues. First, the service: there simply weren’t enough staff to handle the number of guests. We waited far too long to place our order and to get our food, which made the meal feel a bit frustrating. Secondly, the atmosphere wasn’t ideal. There was no air conditioning, and no curtains or blinds to block the strong sunlight coming through the windows. People sitting near the entrance were visibly uncomfortable – it felt like they were cooking just as much as the food was! It’s a shame, because with a bit more attention to staffing and customer comfort, this place could be fantastic.
